. . . to my first journal post and my new business, Aubade Creative. Aubade is a French word meaning a poem or song welcoming a new day. It seemed like a good place to start for a business with a focus on creativity and all the possibilities each new day offers, to be the best we can be. That, of course, is not always possible, but it’s the endeavour that counts!

There has never been so many outlets for people and their businesses to promote themselves as there is today, and many of those channels are available at little or no cost. It’s often been said that we are all publishers now, in one form or another. Social media allows us to shape how we wish the wider world to see ourselves. Most of us carry a camera at all times through our phones, with apps that can quickly and easily edit and share the images we take. The technology to create and disseminate information has never been more powerful and accessible.

That’s the positive news! But the other side of the coin is that those channels become ever more crowded and noisy. Technology races ahead just as we think we’ve got to grips with what has now become yesterday’s news. It gets increasingly harder to cut through and get your voice heard. And because we see social media as free, transient and ephemeral, many of us don’t pay enough attention to the quality of what we publish. We lead busy lives and a small business owner’s priorities are dealing with all the operational issues that arise from running a business. The ability to engage with photography, social media and advertising, clearly and effectively, is hard because of time constraints. I know, because I had one. For seven years we owned, developed and operated a busy pub and restaurant in the Cotswolds (more about that to feature in another post). Beautiful, fulfilling and exhausting!

So the aim of Aubade Creative is to offer a resource for those people that need a little extra help in creating, defining and implementing a visual style, that reflects all that is best about their business.

Through my own skills and a network of contacts built up over the years in creative industry, Aubade Creative is a great place to start improving how your business looks.

If you think we can help, please do get in touch.
